Hindert has been a leader within the structured settlement industry since its inception. He co-founded Benefit Designs, Inc. (BDI) in 1977 and developed BDI into a successful United States structured settlement broker before selling the company in 1998.

Hindert is a member of the National Structured Settlement Trade Association (NSSTA), where he previously served as President and Director, and the Society of Settlement Planners (SSP), where he previously served as Executive Director.

Hindert has provided structured settlement consultative advice to many private and governmental organizations in the United States, Canada, England and Australia. He has lectured and written about many structured settlement topics and continues as co-author, with Daniel Hindert and Joseph Dehner, of “Structured Settlements and Periodic Payment Judgments” a hardcopy legal textbook. Hindert authors S2KM's blog, "Beyond Structured Settlements" and contributes to Wikipedia.

For the past seven years, Hindert has worked, studied and written about web 2.0 and how web 2.0 impacts structured settlements, personal injury settlement planning and special needs planning. In collaboration with Denham Grey, and other knowledge experts, S2KM advises clients about their Web 2.0 strategies.
