The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced the creation of an Internet portal for submission of workers compensation Medicare Set-Aside (WCMSA) proposals.
The new web-based application, which CMS introduced during a town hall meeting on November 29, 2011:
- Enables WCMSA proposals to be submitted electronically for CMS review;
- Accepts submission documents and supplemental information CMS may request;
- Provides online status updates for MSA applications;
- Generates email alerts when approval letters are issued.
According to Nuquest Bridge Pointe, which participated in the testing phase of the WCMSA Portal, "...CMS' intentions are to speed the review time as much as possible and that submissions of WCMSA Proposals via the new WCMSA Portal may assist in this effort."
CMS has also created a 118 page User Manual for its WCMSA Portal (WCMSAP) with 15 chapters including "Troubleshooting" and "Sample WCMSAP Correspondence".
For additional information about the WCMSA Portal (WCMSAP), see this CMS website page and the User Manual.
