“The farther backward you look, the farther forward you are likely to see.” Winston Churchill
This article represents the final S2KM blog post. Thank you to “Beyond Structured Settlement” readers as well as to the professional associations, conference sponsors and speakers and many industry leaders who have provided speaking opportunities and contributed content and insights to this site going back to its origin in 2004.
Henceforth, in addition to continuing as co-author of “Structured Settlements and Periodic Payment Judgments” (S2P2J), Patrick Hindert (who now serves as Vice President of New Business Development for Independent Life) will also be a featured writer on the Independent Life website.
Independent Life’s new internet commentary now includes: 1) “The Structured Settlement Chronicle” (The Chronicle) and 2) “The Structured Settlement Knowledge Network” (The Knowledge Network).
The Chronicle will feature regularly updated news coverage, with some editorial commentary, of industry events and developments which Independent Life views as valuable to structured settlement and personal injury settlement planning professionals and other stakeholders.
The Knowledge Network will provide structured settlement and settlement planning stakeholders with timely and targeted learning resources: 1) to help elevate educational marketing and improve professional work product by professional stakeholders; and 2) to encourage and support the development of a professional online settlement planning community of practice that includes and features structured settlements.
As “Beyond Structured Settlements” concludes and its author transitions to Independent Life, two strategic questions should continue to focus stakeholder attention. What is the current status of the structured settlement market? And, perhaps more importantly, what is the future of structured settlements?
Check out the Independent Life website where both of these topics will be addressed going forward.
For readers interested in following Winston Churchill’s advice (above), S2KM will preserve “Beyond Structured Settlements” in its current format for the foreseeable future. S2KM has also added the following historical compilations which previously appeared on the structured settlement wiki:
- Association Conference Reports
- Annual Industry Reports
- Historical Structured Settlement Premium (1975 – 2017)
- Release Highlights – “Structured Settlements and Periodic Payment Judgment”
