Peter Arnold's most recent post on NSSTA's blog features Bill Tocchi and his battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) commonly called "Lou Gehrig's disease".
NSSTA's tribute this week to Bill is commendable and reminds me that several NSSTA friends and structured settlement leaders are retiring from the industry including Bill Tocchi, Joseph O'Reilly and Richard Lewis.
Among my personal memories of Bill are two conversations during recent NSSTA conferences. In 2008, we shared a cab ride from the San Diego airport to Torrey Pines to attend the NSSTA 2008 Annual Meeting. Bill had recently become President at Structured Financial Associates (SFA) and I welcomed the opportunity to hear his industry views. Bill's knowledge of and commitment to our industry made a positive impression as did his respectful comments about other NSSTA members. Two years later, while attending one of his last NSSTA meetings and unable to speak as a result of ALS, we shared an unusual "conversation" during lunch with Bill utilizing his new iPad to respond to my questions and comments.
Good luck to Bill Tocchi - a compassionate human being and structured settlement leader. Congratulations for your well-deserved recognition from NSSTA.
